We developed the Gen Z check to offer companies and organizations the ability to optimize marketing activities and recruitment for Generation Z (often defined as people born from 1995 to 2010).

You can use the Gen Z check to test advertising materials, scribbles, ads, social media posts, product descriptions, website content and job advertisements with a representative random sample of Gen Zers from Switzerland, Germany and Austria to find out whether they are appropriate for the target group and identify potential optimizations.

The basis for this is the LINK Panel as well as the international panels of the YouGov Group, which we have been a part of since December 2021.

The Gen Z Check was developed as part of a base study on the characteristics and features of Gen Z that we carried out together with ZEAM, an agency specializing in Gen Z, at the beginning of 2022. It is one of the largest collections of postmillennial data in German-speaking Europe: we surveyed more than 2,000 individuals from Gen Z as well as an equally large number of people from the older generations and compared their attitudes and behaviors.

We learned, among others, the following things:

  • With Gen Z, media use is experiencing its strongest break in decades
  • To reach Gen Z with advertising, content and design have to be adapted to the target group and the respective medium.
  • Anyone hoping to recruit and motivate Gen Z as employees has to adhere to new laws.
